Netflix on Monday introduced the real-life dog starring as Scooby in “Scooby-Doo: Origins” with a first-look video posted to the platform’s social media.

The clip, shared by Netflix US (@netflix), opens from Scooby’s point of view as the dog walks through the woods toward a cabin. The perspective shifts to show actor Tanner Hagen, playing Shaggy, picking up and holding Scooby as the dog licks his face.

“Scooby-Doo: Origins” is described by Netflix as a modern reimagining of the classic franchise. The series follows Shaggy and Daphne, played by Mckenna Grace, as they investigate a mystery surrounding Scooby during their final summer at camp. The pair team up with Velma, played by Abby Ryder Fortson, and Fred, played by Maxwell Jenkins, to solve the case.

Netflix had previously shared a first-look photo from the production in April, when the streamer also announced that the show had officially begun filming.

“Scooby-Doo: Origins” is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2027.
