The Durham County Sheriff’s Office said on social media that Animal Services deputies and officers responded to Duck Pond Court on Monday after receiving reports of six sheep wandering through the neighborhood. The flock consisted of five white ewes and what the post called “one distinguished black ram.”

Responders used trash cans, pig boards and a neighbor’s cornhole boards to create a makeshift barrier to contain the wandering animals. “While the perimeter held, another officer managed to leash the ram and escort him to the ewes, who instantly calmed down once their gentleman friend arrived,” the sheriff’s office said in the post.

The owner of the sheep arrived on the scene and authorities helped load the animals into a trailer for transport back home. No injuries were reported.
