An animal control officer responding to a report of a chicken running loose in the Tates Creek area of Lexington found neighbors already attempting to catch the bird Friday night, Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control said. The chicken evaded capture for a time, leading its pursuers on a chase through the neighborhood that included a brief stop in a resident’s swimming pool.
“This adventurous little gal kept everyone on their toes, even taking a quick dip in a neighbor’s pool before finally deciding her wild night out was over and finding a safe landing with us at the shelter,” the agency said in a social media post.
The chicken was taken to the animal shelter, where officials said they are working to trace its origins so it can be reunited with its owner.
