Uber said the list is drawn from internal lost-item reports submitted by riders over the past year. The company has published the annual index since 2017, tracking the evolving range of objects passengers accidentally take with them — or leave behind — at the end of a trip.

Among the more eccentric items reported this year were a brand-new mini fridge, a single red-bottom Louboutin heel, an electrical harness, a textured photo with a rhinestoned picture of Jesus, a portable thermal printer, a welding helmet, a toboggan, a police radio, a sleep apnea machine, and a double-door oven. The list also includes a live fish, grass, and a kitchen faucet.

New York claimed the top spot among the “most forgetful” cities, followed by Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington, Dallas, Boston, Atlanta, and Newark, New Jersey. Uber noted that Sundays saw the highest volume of forgotten items, with July 17 as the individual date most prone to forgetfulness.

The 2026 edition also took a retrospective look at the 10 most unique items left behind over the past decade. In 2017 a lost lobster made the list; 2018 saw a tie between “my brother” and divorce papers; 2019 had a salmon head; 2020 featured a lanyard reading “virginity rocks”; 2021 included a large painting of Kate Middleton; 2022 had 500 grams of caviar; 2023 brought a live toy poodle; 2024 a fake butt; and 2025 a taxidermied rabbit. This year’s index included a 75-gallon fish tank.
