Animal law enforcement officers near Pike’s Peak, Colorado, responded last week to a call that the Humane Society of the Pike’s Peak Region said its team had never encountered: a pig named Edgar had gotten his tusk caught in a fence.
A neighbor reported the situation, prompting the agency’s Animal Law Enforcement team to respond, the Humane Society said on social media.
“There are a lot of calls our Animal Law Enforcement team expects to get. A pig stuck in a fence by his tusk? That one was new,” the Humane Society said.
Officers initially attempted to free Edgar using bolt cutters, according to the organization, but the tool was not strong enough. The team called the Colorado Springs Fire Department to assist with more powerful equipment.
The rescuers cut through the fence and freed Edgar.
“Shortly after Edgar’s unexpected fencing lesson came to an end, his owners arrived home and were reunited with him,” the Humane Society said. “Thankfully, Edgar was okay, although we imagine his ego may need a little more recovery time.”
The Humane Society did not provide additional details about Edgar’s breed, age, or the specific neighborhood where the incident occurred.
