Justice Department says it will abide by court order pausing anti-weaponization fund
By Main Street Independent
The Justice Department said Monday it will abide by a federal court ruling that temporarily blocks the $1.776 billion anti-weaponization fund while a legal challenge proceeds.
A federal judge blocked the fund’s creation in the Eastern District of Virginia after Democracy Forward and other groups filed a lawsuit challenging its legality.
President Trump and his own Justice Department established the fund as part of a settlement resulting from Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS over his previously leaked tax returns.
The judge is weighing whether to convert the temporary block into a more permanent order and has scheduled a hearing for June 12.
