Kelvin Evans, 41, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Fulton County Superior Court to an Atlanta auto break-in prosecutors say led to the theft of unreleased music by Beyoncé, according to the Associated Press. Evans entered guilty pleas to entering an automobile and criminal trespass, and he was sentenced to two years in prison, with a trial scheduled for this week before the plea.
Prosecutors said Evans broke into a parked Jeep Wagoneer last July that had been rented by Beyoncé’s choreographer, Christoper Grant, and her dancer, Diandre Blue. Grant and Blue told Atlanta police they returned to the vehicle on July 8 and found the trunk window damaged and two suitcases missing.
According to a police report, the items stolen included hard drives containing unreleased music, along with footage plans and concert set lists. The theft occurred two days before Beyoncé began four nights of concerts at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium as part of her “Cowboy Carter” tour.
Police said surveillance cameras captured the break-in and arrested Evans in August. Investigators said they have not recovered the hard drives or other stolen items.
