A small plane crash at a Marana, Arizona, airport killed two people, according to city and police officials who responded to the incident on Wednesday. Marana Mayor Jon Post said the aircraft went off the runway and burst into flames.
City spokesperson Vic Hathaway said there were two people on board the plane, and the victims had not been identified as of the officials’ announcement. The Marana Police Department said no other injuries were reported and that no other aircraft were involved.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the crash involved a Piper PA-32 airplane. The agency said it was investigating the accident.
Marana is about 20 miles (32 kilometers) northwest of Tucson.
