Offset, the former Migos rapper known as Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was shot outside a Florida casino and was in stable condition Monday night, a spokesperson for the rapper said in a statement Tuesday. The shooting took place in Hollywood, just north of Miami, authorities said, and police said the injuries were not life-threatening.

Police said the incident was preceded by a fight at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood. Officers detained two people after the shooting, and investigators said they were working to identify others involved.

In the spokesperson’s statement, Offset was being treated at a hospital, although the spokesperson said the rapper’s exact condition was unknown. Separately, police said one person was injured at a valet area outside the casino, but they did not identify the victim.

One of the people detained was a rapper known as Lil Tjay, whose full name is Tione Jayden Merritt. The Seminole Police Department said Lil Tjay was arrested for the altercation that occurred before the shooting.

Lil Tjay was charged with disorderly conduct and operating a vehicle without a valid license, according to police. His lawyer, Dawn M. Florio, told The Associated Press that Lil Tjay did not have a gun and was not charged with any weapons or gun-related crimes.

Florio said Lil Tjay paid his bond and was released Tuesday afternoon. After walking out of the Broward County jail, Lil Tjay told reporters that he was not involved in any fighting.

Police said the second person detained at the scene had not been charged and that investigators were working to identify others involved. Police also did not identify Offset’s injuries, beyond saying they were not life-threatening.

The shooting is the latest in a series of fatal incidents involving hip-hop stars in recent years, the AP story noted, including the killing of Offset’s former Migos groupmate Takeoff. More than three years ago, Takeoff was shot and killed at a Houston bowling alley.

Offset and Cardi B were secretly married in September 2017 in Atlanta, and Cardi B announced in 2024 that she filed for divorce. The couple have three children together, according to the report.

Offset has released solo work since Migos’ breakup following Takeoff’s death. The AP reported that he released the studio albums “Father of Four” in 2019 and “Set It Off” in 2023, and that he later released “Kiari” in 2025.
