Bond posted; judge orders child-contact restrictions

During Duggar’s Florida court appearance on Tuesday, Judge Brantley Clark also barred him from having unsupervised contact with any person under 18, according to court documents. The restriction is among the conditions tied to the Florida case after Duggar posted bond.

Sauline, who represents Duggar on the Florida charges, said Duggar’s legal team sought what he described as fair treatment, particularly because of Duggar’s celebrity status. Sauline said Duggar posted bond and was scheduled to fly home to Arkansas later Tuesday.

Allegations involve conduct during a family trip

The case traces back to Duggar’s arrest in Arkansas, where police officers interviewed a 14-year-old girl who alleged that Duggar had molested her several times during a family trip to Panama City Beach, Florida, when she was 9, according to an arrest affidavit cited in the reporting. The affidavit says the girl’s father confronted Duggar about the abuse, and that Duggar admitted to it during the confrontation.

The affidavit also says that after the confrontation, police officers arranged for the father to call Duggar with a detective on the line, and that Duggar again admitted to the actions. Duggar’s Arkansas arrest occurred March 18 in Tontitown, Arkansas, the reporting said.

Arkansas charges also filed for Joseph Duggar and Kendra Duggar

Separately, authorities in Arkansas filed charges against Joseph Duggar and his wife, Kendra Duggar, according to Tontown police. Those Arkansas charges include four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of false imprisonment, as described in the reporting.

The reporting said the Duggar family had not responded to requests for comment about the charges.

Prior case against Josh Duggar mentioned in context

The reporting also placed Joseph Duggar’s case in the broader context of the family’s previous legal trouble. His older brother, Josh Duggar, was convicted in 2022 of downloading child sexual abuse videos and was sentenced to 12 1/2 years in prison, the reporting said.
