Hundreds of partygoers fled a dance club in Kehl, a town in southwestern Germany near the French border, after a fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday, according to emergency services. The incident drew a large response from local public-safety agencies as revellers made their way out of the venue.

Officials said none of the club’s 750 guests were injured. Police reported that three people were treated at the scene for shock, an indication of how quickly the situation unfolded and how crowd movements were managed while firefighters arrived.

German police said the cause of the fire is under investigation. The club was later identified by local media as the K Club Kehl, a popular hip-hop music venue, based on local media posts shared online.

Reporting from Germany also said at least 80 personnel from the fire department, police, and emergency medical services attended the incident.

The Kehl fire came months after another major nightclub blaze in Europe, a fire at a nightclub in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana on New Year’s Eve. Investigators linked that earlier disaster, in which dozens of people died, to sparklers on Champagne bottles—an example authorities and emergency teams sometimes cite when reviewing how entertainment settings can create rapid ignition risks.
