Melania Trump brought a humanoid robot into the spotlight Wednesday as she attended the final day of a White House summit centered on education and technology. The first lady walked side-by-side with the robot, Figure 03, into the White House East Room, where cameras focused on the pair as they entered the summit setting.
Trump’s appearance capped the second day of her “Fostering the Future Together” initiative, which she convened with counterparts from around the world to discuss ways to empower children through education, innovation and technology, including artificial intelligence. The final-day agenda in Washington brought together a group of panelists as the robot took a position near the center of the room.
As Trump paused just before entering the East Room, Figure 03 moved around the table with the panelists before speaking, according to the event coverage. Before addressing the audience, the robot scanned the crowd, then delivered an introduction that identified it by name and role.
“Thank you, first lady Melania Trump, for inviting me to the White House. It is an honor to be at Fostering the Future Together’s global coalition inaugural meeting,” Figure 03 said. It then told the room, “I’m Figure 03, a humanoid built for the United States of America,” adding: “I am grateful to be part of this historic movement to empower children with technology and education.”
The robot continued by offering a “Welcome” to attendees and then greeting them in 10 other languages. After the remarks, Figure 03 thanked the group and retraced its steps back down the red carpet area near the entryway.
After the robot’s comments, Trump thanked Figure 03 for joining her and said: “It’s fair to state, you are my first American-made humanoid guest in the White House.” The statement placed the robot and the summit’s theme—using education and technology to help children—within the event’s public framing.
Figure AI, the Sunnyvale, California-based robotics startup behind Figure 03, introduced the humanoid in October 2025 as its third-generation model. The company’s materials describe it as a home-use robot that can assist with household tasks such as laundry, cleaning and washing dishes, according to the coverage.
Brett Adcock, Figure AI’s chief executive, said on social media that he was “proud to see F.03 make history as the first humanoid robot in the White House.” The initiative also highlighted competition in the humanoid robotics space, with the event coverage describing other efforts including Boston Dynamics and Tesla, as well as robotics companies in China.
The Associated Press report on Wednesday’s summit said AP writer Matt O’Brien in Providence, Rhode Island, contributed to the story.
