Melania Trump entered the White House East Room on Wednesday walking alongside a humanoid robot, Figure 03, as attention in the room shifted to the two visitors paired on the red carpet. The first lady was participating in the final day of a summit she convened with counterparts from around the world through her “Fostering the Future Together” global initiative, which focuses on using education and technology to empower children. The humanoid’s presence pulled the cameras and the moment of introduction away from the humans on the panel, according to the Associated Press account of the event.
Figure 03 accompanied Trump as the group moved into the East Room and took positions near the panelists. Before it spoke, the robot paused to scan the audience. It then addressed the first lady directly, thanking her for inviting it to the White House and calling the meeting an inaugural gathering for the initiative’s global coalition.
In its remarks, Figure 03 identified itself by name and origin, saying, “I’m Figure 03, a humanoid built for the United States of America.” It then said it was “grateful to be part of this historic movement to empower children with technology and education,” before welcoming attendees and offering greetings in 10 other languages. The robot also thanked everyone and retraced its steps down the red carpet after speaking.
The summit discussion, as described in the AP report, included ways to empower children by combining education with innovation and technology, with artificial intelligence among the topics under discussion. After the robot’s introduction, Trump thanked the robot for joining her and added: “It’s fair to state, you are my first American-made humanoid guest in the White House.”
The robot’s maker, Figure AI, is based in Sunnyvale, California, the AP reported. The company introduced Figure 03 in October 2025 as its third-generation humanoid robot, according to the startup’s website and company literature, for use at home on tasks such as laundry, cleaning and washing dishes.
Figure AI’s chief executive, Brett Adcock, also promoted the event on social media, saying he was “proud to see F.03 make history as the first humanoid robot in the White House,” according to the AP report. The AP story said the startup competes with other robotics and consumer-technology companies developing humanlike robots, including Boston Dynamics and Tesla, as well as companies in China.
The robot-and-education pairing came as Trump’s initiative continued its multi-day effort to bring international leaders into discussions centered on whether new technologies can expand educational access for children.
