Stevie Young, the guitarist for AC/DC, was hospitalized in Buenos Aires ahead of the band’s scheduled concerts in Argentina, according to a statement released by the event’s promoter. The statement said Young “was not feeling well” and that, as a precaution, he was admitted to a local hospital for what it described as a “full series of tests.”

The promoter did not specify the cause of Young’s condition. In a separate message, a spokesperson said Young “is doing well and in good spirits” and added that he was “eagerly looking forward to getting on stage on Monday.”

AC/DC is set to play three sold-out shows at Buenos Aires’ Monumental Stadium, which has a capacity of up to 85,000, on March 23, 27 and 31. The first date sold out quickly, leading the band to add two more concerts to the schedule, the promoter said.

The group arrived in Buenos Aires on Wednesday afternoon at Ezeiza International Airport after performances in Santiago, Chile, and it is expected to play in Mexico City in early April. Young’s hospitalization comes during that run-up to the band’s Buenos Aires stop.

Stevie Young has been AC/DC’s guitarist since 2014, after his uncle Malcolm Young stepped down due to health issues. Malcolm Young founded the band in Sydney, Australia, with Angus Young in 1973, and Malcolm later died in 2017 after suffering from dementia.

The tour is named after AC/DC’s latest album, “Power Up,” released in 2020. In the band’s current lineup, Young plays rhythm guitar alongside Brian Johnson on vocals, Angus Young on guitar, Matt Laug on drums and Chris Chaney on bass, the promoter said.
