Savannah Guthrie visited NBC’s “Today” show studios Thursday in an off-camera appearance as she continued to deal with the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie. The visit marked Guthrie’s first since her mother went missing from an Arizona home about a month earlier, and it was described as a way for her to thank colleagues for their support, according to a statement from “Today.”

A “Today” spokesperson said Guthrie plans to return to the air at some point, but “remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home.” Guthrie’s absence from the show has been met with fill-in hosting from colleagues, including Hoda Kotb, who has returned to “Today” while Guthrie concentrates on the search.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her home outside Tucson on Jan. 31, and she was reported missing the following day. The account of the case says authorities believe Nancy Guthrie was kidnapped, abducted or otherwise taken against her will.

The investigation has continued without what the “Today” framing described as solid information that could quickly advance leads. In response, the Guthrie family has offered a $1 million reward for information that leads to Nancy Guthrie’s recovery.

Guthrie has co-anchored “Today” since 2012, and her off-camera visit comes as the show keeps operating through the period when she is not appearing on-screen.
