Ajinomoto Foods North America Inc. is recalling nearly 3.4 million pounds of frozen chicken fried rice sold at Trader Joe’s stores nationwide after consumers reported finding glass fragments in the product, U.S. Agriculture Department officials announced.
Product Details
The frozen product is sold in 20-ounce plastic bags containing fried rice, vegetables, chicken meat, and eggs. Affected packages are marked with establishment number P-18356 inside the USDA inspection mark and bear best-by dates from September 8 through November 17, 2026.
Safety Status
The contamination was detected after four consumers reported finding glass fragments in the product. No injuries have been reported.
What Consumers Should Do
Consumers should not eat the affected product. The USDA recommends discarding the item or returning it to the Trader Joe’s location where it was purchased.
Related Recall in Canada
Ajinomoto Foods also recalled a related product in Canada. Cardboard packages containing six bags of frozen Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-Style Rice with best-by dates of September 9 to November 12, 2026 were pulled from stores due to the same glass-contamination concern.
