U.S. health officials said at least 45 people in nearly two dozen states were sickened with salmonella food poisoning tied to the Live it Up brand of diet supplement powder “Super Greens,” according to federal health officials.

Superfoods Inc., the company that makes the Live it Up-brand Super Greens powder, issued a recall of products including its original and wild berry flavors. The recall covers products with expiration dates ranging from August 2026 to January 2028.

Federal officials said consumers should not eat, sell or serve the recalled products. They were told instead to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.

Illnesses tied to the supplement were reported from Aug. 22 to Dec. 30, 2025. Officials said at least 12 people were hospitalized, and that no deaths had been reported, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The recalled products were distributed nationwide. AP reported that cases were reported in 21 states: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin.

FDA said its investigation was continuing and that additional products could be contaminated.

Salmonella poisoning symptoms usually start within hours or days of eating a contaminated food product, officials said. They include diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps, and most people recover without treatment within a week, according to the report, though infections can be serious for children younger than 5, adults 65 and older, and people with weakened immune systems.
